Ward-by-Ward Public Works of City Infrastructure Allocations
Ward-by-Ward Public Works. Who is receiving these dollars? Chicago is under attack in the area of affordable housing. There are over 10,000 vacant lots in Chicago, and thousands of abandoned buildings. These vacant lots once represented Chicago’s affordable housing. Also in question is the Public Works Allocations to Chicago’s wards for the years 1990-2004. In some of the poorest communities in Chicago, the City of Chicago claims that it allocated $ 402,543,851 to the 10th ward on the Southside. The city also claims that it allocated $ 268,300,225 to the 2nd ward on the Southside, and last but not least, the city claims that it awarded $ 130,430,166 in the 28th ward on the Westside of Chicago. If you drive through these communities, you will see that they have been devastated, and that many homes and buildings have been destroyed.
The following report was published by the Neighborhood Capital Budget Group.
